In 2026, Top Gun celebrates 40 years, marking four decades since the aviation drama first soared into theatres in 1986. The film follows Maverick, a gifted fighter pilot, as he confronts fierce rivalries, personal loss, and the challenge of proving himself at the elite Top Gun school. Themes of friendship, courage, and redemption drive the story, culminating in high-stakes missions that showcase both skill and heart. Its enduring legacy was reignited with Top Gun: Maverick in 2022, which continued Maverick’s journey as a mentor and earned a Best Picture nomination, cementing its place in cinematic history.
The coin’s reverse portrays the iconic Top Gun logo in the center, and below are the words ‘40 YEARS’. The background features cloudy sky. The coin’s obverse bears the Jody Clark effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, along with the coin’s weight, fineness, monetary denomination, and 2026 year-date.
Presentation packaging
The coin is housed in a paper card that allows the coin to pop in and out easily. The card is packaged in a beautifully designed paper sleeve. The official Top Gun logo appears on both the card and sleeve.
